BOAZ AND RUTH

FROM THE BOOK OF RUTH WE HAVE ONE OF THE GREATEST ILLUSTRATIONS IN THE OLD BIBLE CONCERNING CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH (BRIDE). BOAZ IS A PICTURE OF CHRIST... RUTH IS A PICTURE OF THE CHURCH. NAOMI IS A PICTURE OF ISRAEL.

BOAZ FOUND RUTH  (Ruth 2: 5)

A. AMID SORROW--She was an outcast-She had no family and must glean in the field. It was the will of God for these two to get together. He saw her in her sorrow and it was love at first sight. True repentance begins FIRST with Sorrow then comes the joy.

 B. AMONG SERVANTS--It is the will of God for the servants to help the sinner to the Savior. After a person is saved they will also be among the servants.

BOAZ FAVORED RUTH

A. FAVORED HER WITH SECURITY-- (vs. 9) He charged the young men to watch over her and take care of her. This is a picture of the Angels and the Holy Spirit taking care of the church.

B. FAVORED HER WITH SUPPLIES-- (vs. 9) He told her - to drink of the water and also told the men to drop some for her on purpose. Her needs were more than met because of Boaz.

C. FAVORED HER WITH SERVICE-- (vs. 8) "Abide here"

BOAZ FELLOWSHIPPED WITH RUTH

A. COMMUNION-- (vs. 11-13) She lost her family and friends but Boaz fellowshipped with her.

B. COMFORT-- (vs. 13) "Found Favor in his sight"

C. COMPANIONSHIP--Fellowship with others (vs.14) "She sat beside the reapers". She was FED by Boaz "He reached her parched corn"
