II Tim 2:1

Intro. Though the sun was setting in Paul’s ministry, he wanted to encourage young Timothy as he began his ministry.

  1. PAUL ADDRESSES TIMOTHY (Vs 2)
    1. As his son. (In the ministry)
    1. Grace-- only comes from God.
    2. Mercy – only comes form God
    3. Peace-- only comes from God

 

 II.    PAUL PRAYS FOR TIMOTHY (Vs 3)

 

III.   PAUL DESIRES TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH TIMOTHY (Vs 3)
    1. Remembers Timothy’s Tears
    1. Could be as they departed on the last visit.
    2. Or that Timothy was concerned about Paul’s imprisonment.
    3. Maybe some difficult time in Timothy’s life.
 IV.    PAUL REMEMBERS TIMOTHY’S TRAINING (Vs 5)
    1. Timothy’s strong faith
    2. Timothy’s grandmother- Lois
    3. Timothy’s mother- Eunice
 V.     Paul’s Charge to Timothy
    1. Don’t become inactive (Vs 6)
    2. Don’t be afraid (Vs 7)
    3. Don’t be ashamed (Vs 8)
    4. Don’t forget your calling (Vs 9-11)
